Water

I am water
a nomad, a droplet
adrift on an aimless wind
having roamed about the universe
lays its weary body on a river
without rent flesh, without shattered bones
rejoins the others in an unified embrace
and goes to the ocean
floating on the swell of the sea
sleeping like the dead
abandons the world
along with a salt-embedded wind
endless sky
a canopy of heaven above
coming through its rattling doors
a drop ripe with the smell of life
swims through stars and space
a journey through deep night, parted clouds
turning into another drop of water
once again turning into a river
then an ocean
solid seeds of water
even if evaporated cannot be destroyed
neither in the midst of the unadorned atmosphere
nor in the core of earth that penetrates the planet
in this world and the next
an interminable life
I am only water.

물
나는 물이다
일없이 서성이던 바람에 묻어 유랑하던 한 방울,
저 우주 변방을 돌고 와, 지친 몸
강물 위에 눕힌다 부서진 살과 뼈의 와해도 없이
헤어질 듯 또다시 껴안는다
처연히 바다로 간다
일렁이는 바다에 누워 죽은 듯 잠 한 번 자고
소금 묻은 바람과 한 겹 세상을 벗는다
끝없는 하늘,
또 그 위에 얹힌 하늘의
덜컹이는 문들 밖으로 나아가 허공을
유영하다 또다시 한 방울 강물이 되고 바다가 된다
증발해도 부서지지 않는
단단한 물의 씨앗들
무색의 공기 속에도 지구를 꿰뚫는 흙의 뼈 속에도
이 생과 저 생에도 끊기지 않는 목숨,
나는 오직 물일뿐이다
